The Schoenstatt Shrine is a
place of the Covenant of Love with Mary and of a reunion with God. On
October 18, 1914, Father Joseph Kentenich invited
a group of young men under his spiritual direction to ask the Virgin to
spiritually establish her throne of graces in the small chapel.
The History of Schoenstatt has
shown that the Holy Virgin dwells there in a special way, and manifests her
glory in several ways. Year after year, thousands of pilgrims flock to the
site of the Shrine.
The Schoenstatt Shrine is a
place where men and women are transformed in Christ through the intercession
of Mary. From there they are sent as apostles to be instrumental in the
building of God's Kingdom here on earth. Those who come to the Shrine in
faith are rewarded with three main graces. |

In 1943, the first Schoenstatt
daughter shrine was built in Uruguay according to the model of the Original
Shrine in Schoenstatt, Germany. Since then, more than 130 daughter shrines
have been built throughout the world. The latest shrine in Poland was
consecrated by Pope John Paul II.
"Around these Shrines we will
congregate the new men and women of the new community...".
Wherever a small shrine is erected, we shall always have "holy land because
in the years, decades, and centuries that lie ahead, from this place holy
men shall set out to grow and work fruitfully. Finally, this place is holy
because holy tasks shall be outlined from therein, tasks that sanctify upon
weak shoulders. May the walls of the Shrine extend to the far reaches of the
earth!" (Father Joseph
Kentenich)

Graces that the Blessed
Mother gives in the Shrines
The power of the Blessed
Mother as manifested in the Shrine is a moral power, a power of
intercession. Mainly, She manifests her power
as Mother, Queen and Educator. The main graces She
bestows in the Shrines are three:
-
the
grace of being at home,
-
the
grace of the inner transformation, and
-
the
grace of apostolic fruitfulness.
